David Howden CBE

As President of Howden Foundation, David acts as a senior ambassador and advocate, bringing his commitment and passion for the foundation's work to support and champion our mission.

David started his career as a broker at Alexander Howden in 1981. He founded the Howden Group in 1994 as a wholesale broker with just three people and has since been the driving force behind its growth into an international insurance group spanning wholesale, retail and reinsurance broking, as well as underwriting.

As Howden's Chief Executive, David focuses on leading the Group’s M&A activity and shaping its long-term strategy and growth.

He is also a strong champion of insurance as a force for good, and believes it has an important role to play in helping nations respond to the challenges of climate change.
