About Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team

Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) uses open mapping methodology to address climate and health challenges. With a network of approximately 300 partners, and the second-most downloaded datasets from the Humanitarian Data Exchange, HOT uses geospatial data to make it easy to map, validate and analyse data to enable the effective deployment of climate adaptation solutions.

Howden Foundation is working with HOT to build the first geospatial and thermal map of the entire city of Freetown, Sierra Leone, including 57 informal settlements. The data will be used to enable climate resilience investment across the city, working with the Freetown City Council to reduce urban heat through a combination of engineered and nature-based solutions."
